School Councils

Year Councils - We are here to represent the students in the school. To represent the views of the students in each year, and to all work together to ensure everyone can be successfull at Summerhill.

Whole School Council - we help to co-ordinate and support the Year Council representatives.
Advice Council - The purpose of the Advice Council is to sort out issues and problems that students encounter at school. The Advice Council offer ‘drop-in’ sessions during lunchtime, where you can talk about your concerns. They also work with year 6 students during ‘Induction Days’ and they provide a helpful and friendly service within school to all students.
Health Council - Students who attend year council meetings also attend Health Council meetings. Two students per year group are expected to attend these meetings. They primarily discuss issues of health and safety in school. They work closely with ‘Scolarest’ to improve the variety of food on offer in the school cafe. They aim to promote healthy living within our school community.
Environmental - The purpose of this council is to raise awareness of environmental issues both at a local and global level. The council meet to discuss and act upon relevant issues. Students work with staff, peers and the Mitie team to directly impact on Summerhill’s contribution to the global environment.
